Then again, I do adore Alfie and Finn separately, so I wouldn’t mind seeing them together by the end of the series. There’s not really any romance, which I’m more than happy about. I enjoyed the banter and comic relief, specifically between the two protagonists. Writing: The fantastical aspects are fantastic. “Who you are when you’re angry is still you.” Kudos to the author for not only including great backstory but also diversity. The villain is so evil. Even the secondary characters are interesting and dynamic. As a result, I liked their development throughout the novel. I adore when two characters don’t get along right away, but later become allies. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the world-building at the beginning.Ĭharacters: The two main protagonists, Alfie and Finn, are flawed but likeable.
